Hello from Bozeman! I'm a former physician (25 years in orthopedic spine medicine) who fell in love with real estate investing along the way, and retired from medicine to invest full time in 2005. I've owned single family investments, a working ranch, and office properties in the past, but concentrate on multifamily at this point in time, holding property mainly in Texas and Montana. Along the way I became intrigued with analyzing markets to find markets that had the best chance of my investments succeeding in, and have spent a great deal of time the past five years developing systems and a database to make that work.

My wife and I grew up in Texas but truly love the mountain west, and spend a lot of time enjoying the outdoors here in Montana and the Yellowstone country. Should be a great fishing season for you fly fishermen out there.

Interacting with other investors is a real joy, and Josh and his team have put together a nice site that really does have more givers than takers it appears. It's a pleasure to be a part of the group.

Hey Redfish,

I've always wanted to visit Montana!

maybe sometime soon I can take my kiddos up there I hear it is beautiful!

Just curious where someone who lives in a beautiful place goes on vacation?

I live in - very drab - Oklahoma so going to Branson, Mo is a real trip for my family.

Great to meet ya pal!

Brian -

Whenever you venture this way I'd be glad to give you some tips on where to stay and what to see. Everyone should take their kids through Yellowstone at some point.

We actually get that question all the time about where we go to vacation. Most of the late spring, summer and fall we spend here as the recreational options are amazing, but we almost always head for a warm spot in late January or February to get a break from winter. It's actually snowing here this morning.....

May has been cold and wet so far, and June is forecast to be somewhat the same. July, August, and September are prime time for camping and visiting the Park (Yellowstone). If you do come up, take in Jackson Hole and the Tetons and Yellowstone - you could easily spend at least three days in the area just seeing the main sights once, or a week or more if your kids are old enough to get out and hike and you're in to that sort of thing. If you're a fisherman of any sort, the rivers won't become fishable until runoff is finished - probably the third week of June this year. This year should be gorgeous - we have the best snowpack in a decade and it should be green and pretty for the next several months.

I love to hike too!

Brian,

Consider heading for West Yellowstone - do a google search for west yellowstone cabins and there should be a variety of choices come up. July and August will make the most sense this year - it's still been snowing this week in Yellowstone, and with the snowcover as it is now, much of the area's hiking won't be open until mid June at the earliest.

Your kids will love it.
