Property Management Agreement

Jay Lam

Hello,

I am signing an agreement with a property management company for my rental. I was wondering if the home is owned by both my wife and I, does my wife have to sign the property management agreement too? The PM only put my name on the PM agreement.

Hi @Jay Lam, we always require all owners to sign the property management agreement, so I'd recommend going back to you PM and enabling you both to sign.

Best of luck!

All owners need to be on the contract and they need to sign.

This may be state-by-state, but it would be a good idea to have both you sign.

I agree with the others. The contract should list the owner(s) as listed on the deed. If multiple owners, then each one should sign agreeing to the contract.

My property manager is insisting he only needs one person to sign it given he only needs one SSN on the W9 for tax reporting purposes. We are in Florida. Is this true? Thank you!

Hi Jay! Here in Texas, we would require all owners sign the agreement, no matter the tax filing purposes! I would recommend asking for both of you to be able to sign either way if they'll let you.
