I am an Investment Advisor looking to get into multifamily through syndication (in the beginning stages of research and learning). My question is, as an investment advisor can I also raise funds as a syndicator without getting in trouble with the SEC? I've scoured the internet for an answer as well as emailed my compliance officer but haven't gotten an answer.

@Carrie Mikell

I have two members on my team who are raising the money and are finra licensed.

When we are asked as the owner if I am licensed and I say no every attorney or broker dealer says “that’s smart”.

I believe disclosures / marketing materials / compliance etc it’s recommended not to be licensed.
